Describe your dog.
Wendy is intuitive, loyal and her friendly, comical presence brings happiness to everyone she meets. She spends her days snoring like a piglet in any bit of sun she can find or chasing the birds and possums out of the backyard.
Describe your home.
Our home is a minimalistic yet character filled contemporary home that is respectful and responsive to the neighbourhoods rich heritage context.
What sort of energy does your dog bring to your home?
Wendy brings a joyful energy to our home. Wendy greets most of her visitors with affectionate sloppy kisses and a frenetic wagging tail, unless you are a delivery driver you receive a big hearty bark.
Was your dog considered in any of the design, layout, or choice of finishes for your home?
When we received the first draft of the backyard from the architects, there was a dog house and cupboard built into it, with a picture of a boxer. I got emotional and asked how he knew about Wendy (our number one girl), as we didn’t think we had mentioned her before. He replied, “I remember her as a puppy when you lived in the same street as I did”. Which is a testament to how memorable Wendy is with her beautiful big personality.
Whats your dogs favourite hanging out spot?
In winter, it’s in front of the fireplace.
In summer, she loves to lay underneath our palm tree, which has black tanbark at the base which heats up her belly.
On Sundays, it’s in bed with the rest of the family.
If dogs and their owners are supposed to look the same, does this reflect in the design of your home as well?
The external wood panels are the same colour as her coat.
What makes your dog unique?
She has the best facial expressions. You always know what she is thinking!
How did you choose your dogs name?
I met an English Bull dog with a big personality in Spain called Wendy and thought it was a great name for our girl.
If your dog said something about the house, what would it be?
“I wish more babies and dogs lived here.” She loves dogs and babies.
